Local Government Officials to Remain a Force in 2011-12 Legislature
More Than 50 Percent of Members Have Local Government Roots

Term limits once again required many state legislative seats to change hands in Tuesday’s election, and the trend of legislators coming from local government continues. While official election results are not yet filed, it appears the Senate will have at least 22* members from local government and the Assembly will have 42 members from local government, for the 2011-12 Session.

These legislators share their common experience on city councils and county boards of supervisors. It is hoped that these legislators will continue to remember their local roots when making decisions affecting local budgets and state legislation. The charts below list legislators in the 2011-12 California State Legislature who have local government experience.
