This educational conference offers both seasoned and new fire chiefs important information on managing their departments when faced with tough questions on staffing, leadership, and limited budgets.

Rural Cities Should Register Now for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Workshops
On Nov. 3 in Napa, the Regional Council of Rural Counties (RCRC) will be hosting the second of two workshops for rural counties and any cities within those counties on Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG). The EECBG program is being offered through the California Energy Commission (CEC) and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

The Institute for Local Government’s (ILG) California Climate Action Network (CCAN) recently launched a new Web site, to provide local officials with better access to climate action resources and tools, improved education and information exchange, and recognition of local leadership and achievement.

3          RCRC Workshops to Facilitate Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Napa. RCRC staff has coordinated several workshops in member counties to inform its members of the type of projects and opportunities that are eligible for these funds, and the application process and other procedures that must be followed to access and use these funds.  Location: Napa County Board of Supervisors Chambers, Third floor of the County Administration Building, 1195 Third Street, Napa, CA 

 

4          The Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program Webinar: 1 p.m. Pacific Time.   DOE to host a webinar for cities interested in competing for federal stimulus funding available through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG). $453.72 million in Recovery Act funds for the Retrofit Ramp-up Program ($390.04 million for programs of $5 to $75 million for 8 to 20 awards); and the General Innovation Fund (competitive grants that are reserved for units of local government and state-recognized tribes not eligible for direct formula grants).  You must register online if you plan to attend. 6          Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Cities Campaign Seminar: Mountain View. Mountain View Mayor Margaret Abe-Koga and members of Healthy Silicon Valley invite Peninsula Division Mayors, Council Members, City Managers and Planning, HR, RDA Directors to join a workshop on healthy general plans from 8-10:30 a.m. at Mountain View’s city hall. Please RSVP by Oct. 23 to Carol Clayton at CCPHA, (530) 297-6000 or RSVP online. 19         The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  Voluntary letter of intent due to www.grants.gov, for cities interested in competing for federal stimulus funding available through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG). (See information for November 4 DOE Webinar, or review information in the League’s City Funding Book, available on the League’s Web site.

 

30         The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Deadline for local jurisdictions, non-profits or private organizations to submit to the California Energy Commission (CEC) their proposals for the Municipal Financing Program ('AB 811-type programs'), the California Comprehensive Residential Building Retrofit Program, and the Municipal and Commercial Building Targeted Measure Retrofit Program. Up to $95 million in ARRA funds are being offered with three State Energy Program (SEP) competitive solicitations. For the Solicitations, please visit the CEC Web site.
